Yes ,I know there are travel sites but she's looked at First Choice and its about £4000 for four people all inclusive to Menorca

We are in the same boat.

We want sun but not egg and chips. Looking to spend - £2k for us all (2 adults, 2 children) for a week.

I always book flights on cheapflights.co.uk and then use Octopus Travel to book hotels or use letsgo2 for both combined.

I think i could be of help to you guys
I have a couple of places in Spain that i rent out as Holiday homes. They are about 3 years old and have everything you would expect, Even the TV is hooked up to the UK Satalight. They are 3 Bedroom. Main bed has en-suite. Family Bathroom,Lounge,Big Kitchen and a Manhoosive Bancany which looks down to the beach.
We have friends who run a Bar/Resterrant downstairs so very handy for asking about were to go etc and to have a nice steak and a beer
The Beach is quite literally just down the road and no more than 2 mins walk. Sandy Beach and the weather is always very good.
You wont find the town in any Holidashop over here because Spain is keeping it to themselves so it still feels very Spanish unlike many places these days
We can arrange a Taxi service who will collect you from the Airport and take you right up to the door and vise verser should you want that.
If you come though to us via Scoobynet and say so we will give you a Discount.
At the moment it is 20* and hits about 35* in July and August so be warned

Here's a link to our Holiday website site which has all the details

http://www.spainrentalsdirect.co.uk/...ment-2645.html

There is a Google Map thingy so you can have a street look and walk about. Zoom in and Drag the Google man to the house box and the Apartment is in between the Parked Peugeot and Escort and to the Right of the Green wall "Tim and Leon" which is now our Friends Bar "Siglos" We are Second and Third Floor above the middle Roller Shutter looking straight down to the Beach

Regards
Ian

I used jet2 holidays last year. They sell package deals but when you arrive they have no annoying reps trying to sell you trips etc. they just leave a contact number for a local agent if there are problems which suited me fine.

Although the planes are a bit low rent at the end of the day when flying within Europe they do the job. Well worth a look at their website.

Is it all inclusive?

In years gone by, when food and drink in Spain was a fraction of the UK price, apartments like yours were greatly appealing.

However, these days, if there is a family of 4 to get there, feed and water for a week or 2, it gets ridiculously expensive

Such a shame really because I would MUCH rather eat out somewhere different every morning noon and night. But from my experience, all inclusive is less than half the cost of a traditional 2 week self catering holiday for a family of 4. It's a no brainer!

it only a no brainer if you are going by travel shop prices and go to mainstream places were the prices are hyped up for tourists. Our Town is still very Spanish so the prices reflect that and local beer will knock your socks of and is 2 euros a pint and trust me you will only need four to know you have had a drink. We have a Chineese just round the corner were the menu is from 5 euros and thats for 5 couses per head !
Still if its not for you then its not for you and i am not going to force it upon you

Firstly as your kids are so young make sure you go out of the school holiday period.
We often rent a 3 bed luxury penthouse apt in Marbella area with 2 pools (one for little ones), 4 terraces and a rooftop hottub just a few mins walk to beach , shops etc.

In Sept we pay around £1200 for two weeks with flights on top at around £600 for a really luxurious complex.
I would never do AI as you have to eat in the same place every day, same time etc which just does not appeal to me. Queuing for ages for drinks etc also does nothing for me.

We also stayed in a 5bed £2m villa in Mijas last May for £1400 for the week which was awesome.
