Default Decent earphones, (earbuds)?

Decided to put some MP3's onto my phone for the holiday travelling.
It works OK, but the Samsung-supplied headphones are basic. They sound OK, but there is no bass to speak of unless I ram them into my ears and hold them there. They are uncomfortable enough without that

So, what's out there?
Without spending over £30? (since it will only be used when I travel alone, or not driving, which is rare).

TIA

I've tried the skull candy earbuds and they are terrible to be honest, they don't stay in my ears and the sound quality is poor. I bought some Sony ear phones for £11 from hmv which are my favourites currently. The skull candy ones were £40.

These are what I am trying next, they have good reviews:

Sennheiser phones usually have a good sound as well.

I'm the total opposite to Jamescsti

I bought some Skull Candy Titans for £9.99 at play.com at Christmas, reduced from £34.99, they fit snuggly into my ear and the sound is superb, no issue3s with bass and they dont fall out of my ears.

Just checked play and they're back on offer at £14.99

Same here, my Skullcandy Smokin Buds sound great.

Sennheiser CX 300 are excellent, but just be careful where you get them from as the market is flooded with fakes.

I had some sennheiser cx400ii's (£60ish) which were amazing, they broke so I got some klipsch S3 off amazon for £18, I couldn't handle how crap they were compared to the cx400's so a week later I got some soundmagic e10's for £35, they are really good, pretty much as good as the cx400's but for half the price. Bass and treble are outstanding, they are very comfortable and are really well made (full aluminium). They also won best earbuds for under £40 in whathifi

Soundmagic e10 highly recommended

Smokin buds, that's what I have, I recognise the name now.
My main gripe with the sound is I have my wire running from my iPhone to my ears under whatever jacket or hoody I have on, I find if the clothing has a zip up and the earphone wire rubs on the zip then the sound carries up the wire, very annoying. They are good at blocking outside noise out though.

I have Sennheiser CX400s and the sound quality is fantastic.

But they do have assymetric wires, which irritate the crap out of me, because you have to run the wire down over one shoulder, it then grips whatever you are wearing should you move, pulling tight in one or the other ear And you get rubbing noises transmitting up the wires, as James says

I also have some Sony ones which have symmetrical wires so I can run them down my back to the iPod in my pocket, but the the sound quality isn't a patch on the Sennheisers

I think I moght just be too fussy

For the money these can't be beat.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Philips-In...item1c24c1a2f4

Or these

http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Headphones/...paign=products

But if your prepared, for £80 the yamaha eph-100 can't be touched, not without going quite expensive.

Got to agree with Funkii, tried quite a few different earbuds including Sennheiser (the most uncomfortable i've ever worn and the most expensive) then got the skull candy ones of Play.com and they are the best I've had, end off.

Got a pair of Sennheisers half price at Tesco a while back for my iPhone as I can't wear the earphone ones. As you know I've got small lugs so needed the in-ear bud types. They're bloody brilliant and when on offer were under £20!

Shame the same can't be said about my Pioneer DJ headphones, eh

I personally trust Sony, Sennheiser.

Found them: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...s/Product.html

Well, I've found the old ones off my original portable Sony CD player.
They have a folding headband that holds the earpieces in the ear so that they point directly down the canals, but WITHOUT any pressure.

I think I'll stick with them.

I can see Mrs Alcazar liking THAT idea

Just ordered a set of these -

ACS T1 iem

Bloke's coming tomorrow to "gloop" my ears. Don't ask how much

For my iphoney/ipod, I use a set of Sony Ear buds though - very picky about monitoring, and didn't take to the Skull Candy stuff as it's too "coloured".

Each to their own.

Just make sure they come with customisable rubber buds - you can get the best fit for your ear canal then

I think years of Turbosound 100k sound systems would render them useless to me

I've got the Sennheiser HD555 at home but I got too many taps on the shoulder on planes due to the noise leak and was asked to remove them on an SQ flight, oooops

Lovely headphones and so comfortable, ideal for long haul flights if you have the space to carry them but a bit too noisy plus the ipod never got the best out of them hence the Titans which have very little noise leak so no more taps on the shoulder

Id recommend you keep your jaw wide open, i used a bite block and still had seal issues, i wound up using a dab of nail varnish to sort it out.

Why not get the t1 lives?

http://www.acscustom.com/us/index.ph...=117&Itemid=91

They have a replaceable cable for not a lot extra, trust me it's worth it.

What rig you using with the customs, i have a sansa fuze/p4 warbler and lod.

I had the same issue with some sennheiser ear phones I have on a train, guy came from two rows away to ask me to turn it down, miserable git.
Anyway I keep them as my spares now and use them when walking the dog, she doesn't object.

Good idea Hux - will see what the options are tomorrow (will take some pics and put them up on here )
**EDIT - just looked at these and remembered that I'd kinda dismissed them due to the microphone built-in: excessive for what I need.
Might ask the question about having removeable cabling without the mics**

Not too sure about rig as I'm not singing - "just" a keyboard player. Looking at an audio over CAT 5 submixer - being a mix engineer myself (and a self-confessed control-freak!) I want to keep as much control.

FWIW, (back on topic), if you're looking for stuff to use on a plane, I've also got a set of Bose Quiet Comfort 15s. Noise Cancelling. Subjectively good sound (I quite like it).... again, about £250...... bl00dy fab.

I even use them in the house (not even connected!) - drowns Wifey and kids out!

Dan
