Had this last week. Sold 2 items for 10.50 , and postage cost me 6.80 ! I emailed both buyers asking if the would put 5 towards the postage and to their credit they did. Dont know about canceling the sale , probably get negitive feedback. Try explaining it to the buyer , u might be surprised.

You can contact the seller and request to cancel the transaction but they can reject it.

I am sorry but this sort of thing realy pisses me off.
You put an item on Ebay WITH NO RESERVE and then moan and want to cancel the winning bid when it sells for far less than you want/expected. That is the whole point of a reserve! You would still be better of now if you had paid the reserve fee in the first place would you not?

This is not the buyers fault, so you should honour the auction and take it as a lesson learnt.

How would you like it if it was the other way around?

'Shill Bidding' is what you are referring to.

Yeah, books and mags are heavy.

I found that out when I priced up a load of TG and Evo mags to give away for free...problem was it cost £15.86 to send it all (19.1kg), and that was via a discounted franking account too!

Suffice to say they all reside in the Biffa recyclables bin at work.

Yeah, see what he says. Any reasonable person would see that someone isn't going to send something at a loss and agree not to continue with the sale or give extra money to cover postage.

If he's a **** he'll give you neg or neutral feedback.

I concur. eBay used to be much better when it first started. It's turned into a pikey flea market with everyone punting their sh*te on and expecting top dollar for it. The rules and instructions are really simple and if people don't follow them or try to be clever and get their fingers burnt and then decide to try and back out of the auction because it doesn't suit them then it marks them out for what they really are

I'm sorry but I wouldn't pay anymore than what the auction finished at - That's what Ebay is about, bidding the lowest amount that will win you the item The seller didn't do his sums, was too tight to put a reserve on it, and its cost him in the end, why should the buyer cover his loss?
