When /if Hollande wins, will he REALLY try and spend their way out of the recession?
And if he does, will it work?
I remember everyone laughing at "the Socialist Republic of Sheffield" when they did just that after Thatcher wrecked the steel and coal industries.
They are pretty smug now........

I hope it does burn. Full of c*nts anyway. At the institutional level. Bunch of champagne socialists with too high a quality of life (off the backs of everyone else) and far too much power. Sooner they're strung up by the ***** at the hands of an angry mob the better. Sad b@stards!

Going to be an interesting few months ahead in Europe. Trouble is we can't just watch and enjoy from the sidelines as Europe effects us so much.
Could well be that Greece simply defaults on their huge bail out loans, which was always on the cards, and no one really knows how that will pan out. And France wants growth - don't we all - but growth needs money and they ain't got any. Germany is not going to pay for everything for ever.
This really is a Watch This Space scenario.

The concept of a Common Market was fine and Europe is our biggest trading partner. It's the monetary add-ons and all the politics that have screwed it up, the common currency being a major ***** up. dl

I agree that the EEC was a sensible idea. What I object to is the real idea behind the EU concept and that is for a federation which would give a vast amount of power to a small group comparatively speaking which would mean the death of any real form of democracy, leading to immense wealth for those in power and a totalitarian form of government of the peoples of all those countries in the union. We would have no say in how we wish to lead our own lives any more. It would be an initial step to World government.

Ive coined a phrase (thanks Spiderman): with great responsibility, comes great power.
This answers most questions about the remit creep seen in the EU, I think.

Well more a bump than a crash perhaps.
Markets mostly down, especially Greece, and £ 10% up on Euro compared to last year. Money goes to dollars and yen.
Hollande yet to stick his oar in. Interesting to see if he gets rid of outdated employment laws which are a straight jacket for growth in France - difficult for him as a socialist.
Portillo was saying last night that every Greek citizen owes E31,000. No wonder they are in the s,hit

When Greece goes back to the polls next month for another round of voting and IF the Syriza party win the largest share of votes, they will be able to form a government which is hell bent on ditching austerity. Bye-bye Greece from the Euro
Spain is just about to go cap in hand to the ECB and IMF for loans it has said it doesn't need!
Italy sitting quietly having problems.
The Dutch parliament voting for a new government
The Irish having a referendum on the fiscal pact
The ball will start rolling!

Not forgetting France's new growth-with-no-money philosophy and the Germans getting fed up with picking up the tab
The fan is already running........

Greece is indicating that they might be able to cobble a government together. Germany/EU has said that they will keep funding whilst they sort out their arrangements.
This person quite cleverly pointed out

"Greece should pull a Belgium and refuse to get a govt in place for years if the EU has committed to funding Greece till it has a coalition!"
