Just £2 a month saves a little baby girls life ....
..... so the advert goes ...
That's OK, but - in 18 years time that baby girl has 5 babies of her own ...... has my £2 a month just ensured that there is even more suffering?

I don't contribute a penny to these type of charities. I think we have enough problems here, that would benefit better from my donation. Sorry if that sounds harsh

Personally, I believe that the money spent on short term aid should be spent on long-term infrastructure projects, that will enable them to look after themselves in the future, although still with our help where needed, or else it is a never ending cycle.

And this is recognised by aid agencies and there are many long term support projects. But they don't hit the headlines and 2 or 3 years without rain can defeat even the best planned agricultural programme.

I know David, but money has been raised for years with different events and basic charity ads, but it never seems to make any difference.
I work hard for my money and give to Cancer Research, an Animal Sanctuary and the Homeless. All things I feel passionately about. I'm honestly not being hard hearted, just giving to what matters to me

There's no question of my thinking you are hard hearted. What you do with your hard earned is your choice.
And if I become a homeless animal with cancer I will be most grateful

(PS my money goes to "**** for Kids" - just to upset people

We need to remember we are animals, survival of the fittest, anything to those less fortunate is for our fragile egos and nothing else, I donate a few quid each month to the British Red Cross but I havent a clue what for.

Strictly not true as humans are one of the few, if only, species that will help a fellow non-related human if they are in trouble.

But of course the act of giving may also provide an uplifting experience.

It amazes me how these starving families living in poverty with no food , water etc come to the decision that having kids is probally the best thing to do in there situation
Yes some are raped , but most make the decision themselves
Even if i could affordmy own shell petrol station in my back garden they still wouldnt see a penny from me , plenty of problems on our own litle island

Yeah but what they don't tell you is it cost 400 quid to fly the volunteer out to africa to give injections etc so 200 people need to pay their 2 quid just to pay the air fare in the first place. Then there will be other costs so you probably need about 400 people paying 2 quid before any child gets any benefit from it.

Thanks - I hadn't realised that they flew a volunteer out for each injection
