Unhappy HDMI / HDCP issue - Panny Plasma and Humax HDPVR

I have an issue with my Panasonic 42" plasma TV and its HDMI handshake with a Humax Freeview HDPVR set top box. I often end up with a HDCP issue and am sat watching a green screen. I do have some limited success with a HDMI 3-way switch I have, but that too seems to suffer from the green screen issue occasionally.

I don't want to buy a new TV, expensive receiver or change the PVR. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any kind of product that may assist me? I just need to take the glitch out of the HDCP handshake, which will allow me to watch HD TV again.

I was thinking of a matrix splitter/amplifier, but didn't want to spend a massive amount of money (in case it doesn't work) - therefore an AV receiver is a bit out of my price bracket at the moment.

All firmwares on TV and PVR are up to date, and the respective manufacturers blame each other for the issue.

Any ideas, please?

I am of no help, but this just goes to show why legitimate customers are getting shafted by the big media companies and turning to an easier method to access content and where HDCP doesn't exist, this is called piracy.

The PS3 I have works fine - which I believe also has HDCP, so I'm sure it's not the telly that's at fault.

Have you tried the PVR on another TV then?

Don't have another telly, I'm afraid.

No - as soon as the PVR comes on. There's a split second or so of clarity, then it flicks to a green screen.

Íf the PVR was already on, and the TV switched over to it, the screen is already green.

Tried all the usual stuff - rebooting in different orders, HDMI cables, swapping ports, hotplugging...... the switch was the only way I managed to get some kind of use from it.

yeah - but I don't really want to bin it / swap it out..... too much on the HDD. My parents have a Humax HDSAT and a Panny LCD - they too get a split second of green, but it then recovers. Interestingly, their PVR has an option to turn off HDCP in the settings - mine doesn't, unfortunately.

Does the PVR have a scart or other means of connecting so you can check the settings &/or factory default them?~
Also try reseting the TV.

Looks like there's a new beta firmware for the PVR

I'll give that a go when I get home, but I'm not holding out much hope - the change-log makes no mention of anything to do with HDMI.

I have the same setup, and had this issue on the old PVR firmware, but when I updated it disappeared. I used to be worse when I switched the PVR on from standby, and only a reboot of the PVR would solve it - a pain when you're also recording something.

I also have the Humax Foxsat PVR linked to the same Panasonic TV and I get the green screen (which lasts a few seconds) with that, but I just put up with it.
