They say that it's tough out there ....
.... but, let's be honest - who is really feeling it?
In fact, who has ever felt it?
My Pension has suffered and the income from my savings has fallen off a cliff .... but I'm not struggling or suffering.
Yes, I would like a decent income on my savings and would like a bigger pension - but, I have a job and the payrises have outpaced inflation .... just!! For example, this years offer is 6.7% - pathetic, but keeps me marking time.
So, come on - be truthful, are you hurting at all ... really?

This is it, you see?
I don't know anyone who is actually hurting - so, why is the world allowing the UK to borrow cheap money when we haven't even started cutting back?

'We' have cut back.
It's just those of us who work hard for a living don't rely on what's been cut.
Therefore, 'they' can cut what the heck they like - some of us will carry on as usual.
It ain't rocket science.

Of course people are suffering. Take my daughter - studied very hard for 6 years to be a specialist in an NHS role. Got a good job but was soon made redundant because of funding cuts. This was a job actually helping patients not pen pushing. Last job she applied for had 63 applicants in 2 days (all with post-grad qualifications). No income but with bank loan to repay (to fund her MSc studies) and rent, oh and for some food.
I am thinking of moving to Greece.....

Your daughter has you to support her, obviously.
The older generations need/have to help the youngsters.
I hope she gets a career soon ..... the Tories seem to have abandoned the young, like I said, we must pick up the tab.

Funnily enough things are getting quite tough here. I work in the financial industry which is taking a battering. My wife's business is really struggling and she is also expecting - should be around Feb all being well. She'll be able to have about 4 weeks before having to go back to work and we'll be bent over for child care fees for the next 4 years. Things are not comfortable right now but thanks for asking

But no-one is penniless ..... no-one is in poverty ...... some have degrees and looking for work, some are pregnant so confident enough in the future.
I'd say it looks pretty good all in all?

There's a great many who've had to cut back - but as long as you stay in your bubble, you'll never see it.
Anti-Tory Pete? It would appear that from here, you are the epitome of the "wealthy" person that they are protecting.
So keep posting this tripe - it's entertaining to watch you embarrass yourself each time you post
but then again, nobody takes you seriously anyway?

The only way I retain a semblence of sanity is that my Winter Fuel Allowance heats my Swimming Pool each year - if it wasn't for that I really don't know where I would swim each morning .... the Local Swimming Pool is full of oiks and Pikies having a bath!!
So, I guess I could be suffering more ...........

Biggest thing for me is the rising fuel costs which costs me £50 more per month then it did 2 years ago and gas /electricity which is another £50 per month it hen 2years ago
Foods about the same as the boy moved to Aussie and won't be back to this troubled country
Been in the same job after my redundancy 6 years ago and goes up about 3% per year so still ok on that front but savings is hard as interest rates are 3-3.5% with fixed for five years slightly higher

I remember someone posting a pic once of Hitler photoshopped into a scooby. Thought it was hilarious at the time, as there is a certain truth there.

I'm not on the dole, but I'd probably be better off if I was, and I knew how to play the system like some people.
The last pay rise I had, was 2% (worked out that it made me about a fiver a week better off), but I should be grateful that I at least got one at all. Unlike my other half, he hasn't had one for about 4/5 years, I think (I'd have to double check that to be sure on the exact number of years ) Times are tough, not just financially on a personal level, but it reflects in work. We have had cuts all over the place, and it puts a strain on the workers as they are doing the jobs of various people, instead of just their own, and I really feel for people on lower (hours) contracts as they may have been used to quite a few hours work a week, now they are cut back to their minimum contract.
