Well, the fact I`m not psychic so wasn`t aware of the procedure, doesn`t really make me a retard now does it.
At least it`s not an actual fault with the phone (iphone killer)...so all is good Now jog on and troll elsewhere

I just had one and it went funny after the update, and i was charging it when i did the update, thought you were supposed to so it had good battery! That explains what went wrong. I ended up swapping it for the one s as i thought the x was too big, i like the one s a lot more.

I haven't had the problems you are experiencing but the phone will hang on reboot if it is charging. i just unplugged he charger and it completed the update.
Have you tried hard reset of the phone. Volume down whilst pressing power put you into boot-loader from there you can reset or from the menu-storage then reset.

You need 35% battery minimum to update apparently but it doesn`t say don`t charge whilst doing so
At least maybe others will learn from this. I`ll have it back on the 8th at least I still got my Desire.....seems tiny now
Ps. just updated the Desire, but made sure it wasn`t charging

Carphone recalled all the old one x stock today to get new ones sent back with the new software so that it doesn't happen anymore. As far as I know all other stores are still selling the old stock.

Ordered mine today. Arrives Thursday.
My old Desire has done me well, great first insight into smartphones. Look forward to the One X. Was gonna get a Sensation at first, but talked the GF into getting an XE. Couldn't see the need to upgrade. Then i set my sights on the One X. Wasn't the all conquering phone i imagined, so waited for the S3 to come out and that looked worse IMO and helped drop the price of the One X.
Got a decent deal when i threatened to leave T-Mobile, so let's see how is performs...

My gs3 has just arrived, it feels lighter than my desire, went this way as the one x now has a battery you can't get at. Charged up now so a morning of playing ahead!

I don't get that argument either. I've never needed to replace the battery on the Desire, nor carried a spare.
I've pulled it a few times when things have gone awry. But i'm not S-OFF or Rooting this unless absolutely necessary, i'd like to get all updates to iron-out things.

On a couple of occasions, had to do battery pulls sharpish on the desire on what felt like serious over heating. And have needed to carry spare battery on some of my outings, the South pole being one of them, cold is a bit of a battery killer, and no I wasn't using it to make calls!!
