Hide quick, this is a watch thread!
I'm after a new watch, has to be robust, not after your Rolex types as its for my walking, so will need to be water proof, shock proof, very durable, practical and (if possible) stylish.
Any suggestions??
Thanks

Why does it matter what watch you get, and have to worry about being stylish or durable when WALKING?
Surely everyone who wears a watch on their wrist has to walk to get to places, unless they float along air instead with their watches protected by an invisable barrier!

This to be honest, I bought one for work, it's taken loads of general abuse (heat, submerged in water, banged and caughted against stuff etc) and works perfectly.

My budget would probably only be a few hundred quid, though those Ball watches are very nice may have to get one of those for xmas
The Suunto look good, if their watches are as good as their compasses then they should be a good buy, also like the g-shock and DYK's offering fits the bill very well too
Keep them coming

I suppose it depends on how much of a watch snob you are but I've got one of these.
Never misses a beat, often gets comments from people who, I presume, mistake it for something more expensive and at the end of the day at £125 or so (if memory serves me correctly) you won't be too heartbroken if it ends up smashed.
If ever did break mine I'd just go and get another one

I'd say this Tony. More Suunto's are deployed to Afgahnistan than G-shocks these days. MOD actually survey this stuff.
Much of a muchness really, they are all good solid watches. Just comes down to taste, budget and features.
Cheers

Got a protrek and is a good watch, and a watch you can wear everywhere.
Have a about 3 Nite watches..So for what the OP wants,walking/stylish etc then you can't really go wrong with a G shock, and many models to pick from.I do like my Nite watch though..

Obviously each to their own but I really do feel that they're all the watch you'd ever need. Kinetic so they don't need batteries or winding, solid, good-looking, inexpensive....I could go on
I've had similar experiences on comments front. Guy I work with walked past my desk the other day, stopped and said, "I like your watch. What is it?"
The guy himself was wearing over a grand's worth of Omega Speedmaster
I removed the rubber strap from mine and put it onto a 22mm NATO strap from Timefactors. Superbly comfortable and at £10 you really can't go wrong. When you fancy changing how the watch looks simply buy a different NATO and change it in 5 seconds flat.

Well I think its leaning towards the Protek, which one though, that is the question I do like the PRW-5000T-7ER, and it can be had for less than £300, bargain
The Suunto, like those too, its not got the best of track records from what i've read, thats a bit of a shame really, they may have improved so they are still in the running (need to do more homework).

Lol at you lot with your designer watches, there not watches, there fashion accesories
If you want a watch, check out Roger W Smith,
average price £80k, if you want one today forget it, each one is made to order, approx 2 years to make.
You can jump the queue, so to speak by placing a commisioned order, waiting time for those is 8 years.
Very interesting article in the Mail today

It has to be a little bit ruggadised and how much I like the Omega, its not really practical for outdoor pursuits.
May have to pop down to a Casio dealer and check out the 2500t and 5000t to see which one I prefer and which one is the more practical (one being digital and the other analogue).
Thanks so far
Tony
