had to get our dog of 6 years put down due to epilepsy and swore i wouldnt get another as it broke me. Few months later a family were looking rid of their 1 year old dog due to a baby on the way and couldnt see it being put into care so we took it in ! Not looking forward to the day she goes , but the good times we have with them outweight the sad times.
My last GSD was 14 1/2 years when she went ..... I swore that I would never put myself through that pain again - and here I am, again, blubbing like a 2 year old who's lollipop has just fallen off its stick!
Sorry to hear that PSL me and the Mrs got upset just thinking about losing Dave the other day She's only 10months but Staffs only live around 10 years!
Do you know, I hate reading these threads! Make me think about our dog (rottweiller) they only have a short life aswell, you build such a bond that's not replaceable.
My sincere sympathy for you Psl, let me know if it's easier as time goes on.
Regards
We went through losing our GSD going 18 months ago.....
Just thinking about him can still reduce me to tears even though we have another GSD now.I buried him in his favourite field and it was 9 degrees below zero, the ground was frozen and the tears were freezing on my face...It was a terrible few days..
Its an awful time Pete, mourn him for a few months and you will find yourself looking for another. I swore never to put myself throught the pain of losing another dog,but the great times far outweigh what happens at the end..
My dog is lay on my feet on the bed as i type this, remember the good times....
