I liked the look of this dog
Was in the vets this morning when a lady came in with a large liver coloured Spaniel. I ran through all the Spaniel types I knew but drew a blank so I asked. A Field Spaniel. Had a chat with owner and they were bred for wild fowl collection hence its docked tail. Long Spaniel ears and that "hang dog" look. Seemed to have a very friendly and laid back temperament. I was quite taken.
Anyone have one?

I had a Springer spaniel many years ago...
She was a great dog, very intelligent and devoted i absolutely adored her..She took a lot of time and a LOT of excercise..
She was 16 when she passed, and it upset me that much i didnt get another dog for nearly 8 years..

Had springers, cockers, a clumber and now have 2 working cocker/poodle crosses (cockapoo). Springers were nuts, both killed by cars chasing rabbits, cockers calmer but they seem to have more than their fair share of health issues. Clumber was interesting, weighed a ton, drooled everywhere, but died quite young (8 yrs, cancer).
Cockapoos were well researched, no hair loss, good size for house pets, both parent breeds are good natured, very clever (must be the poodle...) but still has the cocker fun element. Very good hunters, impressive kill list.

We have friends who have a spaniel, a thicker dog it would not be possible to meet
It also loves to eat human ****, that tramps leave in the graveyard
But the owner still loves him licking her face, which is nice

Love the look of the Cockerpoo! If only I was allowed a dog, but too much hard work really and the cat would not be impressed.

i have meet a couple of Field Spaniels and they seem a lovely breed but they have a very small gene pool as there aren't many around so i would be worried about genetic illnesses. Spaniels are breed to flush game to be shot and many breeds also to retrieve they're not breed to be guard dogs or to hunt and kill animals
All gun dog breeds have a reputation for scavenging and many of them will retrieve anything and everything from your socks and slippers or shoes through to the well rotted body of a road kill rat or rabbit.

Good point about the gene pool.
Even our little Cavalier will struggle upstairs (she's old with wobbly legs) to find a sock or some slippers to bring down and keep in her basket

I've got two cocker spaniels. One is proper switched on and spends his life on red alert, the other is a complete retard, totally relaxed and doesn't even bother barking.
They're both great dogs though. Gotta love spaniels.
