There is a decent Auchan near Calais, but the seciond biggest one in France is at Boulogne, about 20 miles down the A16, turn left at junction 31, look for the slip road on your RIGHT after leaving the motorway. It's signed "Centre Commerciale".
There is Tesco at Calais, but we ignore that, especially if you want anything French, rather than English

There are quite a few hypermarkets by Calais, including CarreFore (here: http://www.dover-to-calais.com/hyper..._of_calais.htm ) and CarreFore normally have good offers on reasonable quality wine. Plus they have my favourite beer (Hoegaarden) on offer ....
Just avoid Calais itself as it is a dump of a place.

You can get 24 cans 500ml of st omer beer for a tenner. The hypermarket just as you come out of calais, come onto the slip road for Dunkerque, then come off at the next exit D247 Pidou cash and carry, you can also get the cases of wine for a fiver.
Just watch out for the immigrants hiding in the trees etc, aslong your not driving a truck you should be ok though.

I actually found it useful as you could buy all the booze Tesco stock in the UK but for a lot less. The French hypermarkets tend to stock predominently French wine as they tend to believe that their stuff is the best in the world so why drink wine from anywhere else.....
