last year about May ( couple weeks before mot ) i renewed discs and pads all at the same time with mintex - i bought off the net
This year mot , and an advisory that rear offfside disc was pitted and scored ! - but not unsafe
few months later and theres whacking great bits missing , indeed its far worse than the disc i replaced last year
the rest are A1 - what could i have done to cause this

Christ , thats what it must be . ![Mad](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/mad.gif)
Went away holiday feb for a month , and made a note of leaving handbrake OFF
on return heard graunching from the rear which wore off after a while
- i thought this happened if you left the handbrake ON

Had the same problem recently myself. Both rears sticking. It was actually the sliders on the caliper carrier bracket rather than the piston in the caliper. Could be a good idea to check yours isn't the same problem, otherwise you might waste money on a caliper which isn't needed.
After that the front driver's side started sticking, and that WAS the piston in the caliper. So over the last month or so I have replaced all discs and pads, both rear caliper carriers (about the same price as the caliper itself) and a front caliper.

If it's a Mondeo then the handbrake mechanism is built into the caliper & these are prone to seizing as are the handbrake cables.
