Default Any BT Engineers On Here ? I have a line query.

Im looking to get BT to install another phone line into my residental property but want to know if I can use the existing cable from the pole which has a spare pair of conductors, rather than installing a new cable which would mean running across a newly laid floor. Will / Can BT use the same cable for both lines?

Thanks

The answer is yes as there are normally 2 pairs of wires in that cable

Unless things have changed, the dropwire from the pole would be a 2 pair cable - Green / Black pair and an Orange / White pair. Internal cable would be either a 6 or 8 wire.

As per the original question, I'm with Tony - yes no worries to using the other pair.

Yes if one pair isn't faulty and even then they should replace it
