Garmin always seemed to have the best reviews when I was considering a purchase. TBH, the price put me off from both companies and, if you already have a car sat nav, you can purchase a waterproof cover and ram mount and use that. Not as all singing and dancing as dedicated bike sat nav but a much more friendly alternative on my pocket.

Dont know if you can plot routes on the TomTom. I have a Zumo 550, unlike car journeys you dont always want to get direct from A to B (wherever they are, neither are on the satnav). But you may wish to have a nice ride out on the twisties. So I can plot a route on the PC and then load it into the Garmin. Very useful, as are speed cameras locations.
