'Kin hell! It looks like an old fashioned gas boiler from my old house FFS!
Royal Mail don't need any painting lesson. They should stick to what they know. They shouldn't paint these valuable British heritage post boxes in gold at first place. If they want to celebrate the Brits winning gold, they can give free postage for a year to the medal winner, or for a free postage for a month to all the subjects in the town. Alright, just a day with free postage to all would do to make it a little as the bleddy Hammerite cost.
There are plenty of better ideas to celebrate gold medal wins than ruining an antique British post box IMO.

Ok, a week's free postage can be exploited very badly by Ebayers. So, how about giving every household a free 2nd class stamp (just the one), but then again, if they have too many living in the town, Royal Mail will be b@ggered. So, how about giving the money that they would spend on gold paint to some community centre that could do with a facelift? That will be better IMO. Then on the fennali, the medal winner can go around and sign one of the walls with gold paint.
