It is a drift aid. The pendulum effect of the toy helps to throw out the back end

I watched something about street racing and they said they put them on to signal they are up for a race. It was based in America so don't know if it has the same meaning over here.

not sure about the soft toy and black rag meanings but i do know that if a woman has a red rag hanging from the tow hook its to inform male drivers that she is unavaliable for that week of the month.

Strange thing is, one of my neighbours has a monster bhp supra in his driveway and another neighbour has a nissan GT-R on hers, neither of them have this tat hanging off the back, but a few doors away there is rusty old vectra with paddington bear hanging off the rear towing eye.

I guess the supra and GT-R just dont need these aftermarket aids to get their tail hanging out!!!

It helps notify other drivers you are a tosser.

Nowt beats a Subaru driving around advertising either energy drinks or branded shoes for free imo.

The old 80's combat hamster makeover...

it was a clip on hamster or similar on your ariel back then, now i suppose with electric ariels and stubby types, the towing hook is probably the only place left to hang them

Going to get my tonic shirts pressed just in case

People (I use people in the loosest of terms) who do this are trying to copy the americunts, and thus fail at life and should be shot. Same goes with the spaz's who sticker bomb their cars.

I used to have a miniature Russian communist flag on the aerial of my MK2 Polo
I put it at half mast when it was written off

Its just a bit of fun. Certainly not as bad as the typical 4" "tuner" tailpipes thats commonly found bolted to a 2.5" exhaust system....that really makes me laugh as it serves less function than a baby on board sticker
