Default Driving in London Question

My wife and I want to attend a university thing in London being held on Tues 28 Aug at 1 o'clock near Euston. This is day after bank holiday and Paralympics are on.

We now live in Wiltshire and I planned just to get a train up but the tickets are around £100 each in steerage

So I am thinking again about driving up but is that plain silly with all that is going on? I don't want to miss the ceremony stuck in a wheelchair traffic jam. I do have a congestion charge pass which helps.

So advice sought from anyone who knows the score for London

Megabus from Bristol or Nat Express would both be cheaper and getting there for 1 o clock should not present any problems.

Why not come up here, on the Monday night, and stay in a Premier Inn or the like, near St Albans/Watford, the get the train to Euston on the Tuesday. It's only 20 minutes to Euston from Watford.

I'd wondered about coaches. Bristol is quite a distance from us, say 1.5 hours but there may be another stop closer. But if a coach can do it then a car should manage?

Cheers, Exeter is a long way from us but there are other NE stops nearer but service is very patchy. Odd that they quote a journey time of 4 hours but AA give 2 hrs 33 mins on their Route Planner. NE is a hell of a lot cheaper though...

Just realised where you live.

So try Salisbury to London for £34 return or maybe even go from Swindon. Cheaper than driving and no hassle parking either.

An Aldgate bound Met line train stops at Euston Square which should be close enough.

Get the M40 into Ickenham or Ruislip park up and hop on the tube.
If you come to Croxley I'll let you park outside my house, it's only a few hundred yards from the station.

Why don't you park at the o2 arena and then tube over... Think its 20 for the day.
