Default the olympic shame

reading abit about drugs used and testing methods by the IOC

winning with PED'S seems to always catch up with you - is that moment on the podium, in the worlds eye really worhit, onlyt to be questioned 4-8-10 years down the line?

is the drive to win THAT STRONG to overcome these worries

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/lo...-1226428494533

justa as a single peice of work against top levele athletes

what should be done about cheats, not just ped's but across the board, illegal diffusers, swimsuits, maps ect-instant lifetime ban?

The Beijing retests caught five athletes for use of CERA, an advanced version of the blood-boosting drug EPO.

Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain was retroactively stripped of his gold medal in the 1500m.

The Athens Games produced a record 26 doping cases, more than double the previous Olympic high of 12 in Los Angeles in 1984.

Six medallists, including two gold winners, were caught in Athens from among 3600 tests.

The move to retest Athens samples came after the World Anti-Doping Agency asked the IOC check the samples again based on the emergence of new testing methods since 2004.

Ljungqvist said the IOC still needs to determine whether the athletes flagged in the retests had a TUE, or therapeutic use exemption, that allowed them to use certain medications for valid medical reasons, and whether the chain of custody of the samples was respected.

"In the next couple of days we have to make a decision or not to go forward," he said.

If positive cases are confirmed, the IOC would appoint a disciplinary commission to investigate and report to the ruling executive board.

The board can disqualify athletes, nullify results and strip medals.

did i hear that each country does their own testing ? Would that not lead to corruption ? But i suppose it wouldnt matter who did it , could still be corrupt.

I completely agree, however the courts do not, hence they overruled the permanent bans handed out.

There was a programme on radio 4 about cheating in the paralympics, apparently its been known for competitors who are paralysed from the waste down to deliberately brake a toe by smashing it with a hammer just before they're due to compete.... giving their body a natural adrenalin rush due to the injury and boosting their strength and stamina.

i watched a doc on that , its called boosting, some sit on their ******* lol, but there is more to it than that. the paraplegic athletes can be grouped with athletes who have lost limbs etc. so basically they have a disadvantage because they cant regulate their heartbeat/ blood pressure etc so they do this to increase heart rate, adrenalin etc to try to compensate
