used to do mountain biking every day (when possible) and gym from 15 until 28. Then had a few slack years and now back into mountain biking and now started circuit training for the last 8 weeks.
have to say circuit training is a very good way to keep fit but a bloody hard workout!.
not doing it too look good just want to feel fit and also meet my mate there so its like social thing twice a week.

My first proper workout was August 1st 1986, in Bexleyheath in south London.
Except for a couple of years when fatherhood took priority, i've been at it ever since.
Salsa-King, i'm surprised somebody like you would make that sort of vacuous comment. I have lived a life fuller than many in the years since 1986, gym has just been a part of it.

For about 9 year at the gym. I've always cycled, but after the kids came along I found little time or energy to keep up with them and cycling was restricted. So evenings in the gym when they've gone to bed.
So really I do it to be all round fit and that I can have a good time out riding, even if I don't cycle as much and keep the cycling up.

Been a gym goer since the age of 15, I'm now 35. Sometimes I've been very committed, other times not so much, as life gets in the way. I started off with the aim of just fitness but it developed into a desire to just move heavy stuff around lol and bulk up. I still get a kick out of it now.
Making a commitment to keeping fit (whether it be by the gym or via other means) is one of the best life decisions you can make.

Also £40 a month.. back then.. is wasted if you don't go.
IMO, gym is ok if...
1. you need/want to loose weight... to keep fit
2. you need to train..... for something and put it to some use.. like being a doorman
3. if you want to look like you walk round with rolls of carpet under your arms.
4. if you're looking for a fit bird to pull
Gym is not ok if..
1. you go to pose
2. you go for the sake if it
3. you just want to tell ppl your at member at David Lloyd.
now salsa dancing is a whole different kettle of fish that is keeping fit

Nope, never been a member of a gym in my life. I can't do with the posers who feel the need to belittle those (I.e. me) who will be newbies to the equipment and the types who feel you have to tell every **** on Facebook etc. that they're going to the gym.
I push bike to work when the weather allows and also do a physical job so in happy with that. Plus I've got an above average size 18 month old son who is the equivalent of a free personal trainer

ill find it in the end
for weight training only 3-4 hours weekly
once you build a good mind-muscle connection, getting results if training for overall hypertrophy is quite simple.
no need to over complicate things
if lookig for greater health benefts then its probably est to take part in many different sporting events as timeallows - and include your kids to show them an example to follow

Been going on and off since 95 when i was a school lad and in 97 joind the royle marines which just intensified it and tbh I fricking love it,I do 3 days a week heavy 1day cardio (normally 20mins xtrainer 20 mins walking machine 20 mins rowing machine final 10 on punch bag) then I swap routines every 6 weeks just to keep my body guessing. But going to the gym is a marmite thing YOU EATHER LOVE IT OR HATE IT

Never ever "go to the gym" but have a variety of weights etc at home which I work out with twice a week normally - core & upper body.
Otherwise its commuting by cycle 5 days a week, generally as fast as I can go.
However, g/friend has given me the go-ahead to build a gym at the end of her garden so just planning it and getting all the materials together
Started about 5 years ago, guess it was a middle age thing (had a bit of a pot belly) but now fitter & more toned than when I was 20.

five days a week for lifting weights and kick boxing twice a week. I love it. I train in a very small gym with only 120 members so everyone knows each other and gets on and its a bit like the pub with exercise instead of drink.
