As long as it's been made properly it's fine. Some manufacturers slate it due to the methanol issues but I know people who've used it for a few years with no probls.

same as what i thought too, just dont want to chuck a tank in it and do damage. my saab engine is an older diesel engine so not like modern diesels. might try half a tank with some proper diesel and see how it goes. have to mix it a bit i guess if its getting colder to stop it congealing.

How do I notify HMRC that I am using cooking oil in my vehicle?
If you use cooking oil, and/or produce biodiesel or any other fuel substitute for use in your vehicle you must contact HMRC in order to 'Make Entry'. This is to record details of where the fuel is made (or used) and to register your activity with us. You will receive information on how to record your fuel use and pay the Excise Duty due.
Please note: 'Making Entry' of your premises does not authorise you to produce a particular type of fuel or give approval to your method of production.

No free lunches in this bloody country I'm afraid. You might as well use red and take a chance. At least you won't stuff your fuel pump.

You can use it legally as long as you keep a log of how much you use by way of book and reciepts.
IIRC you can use 2500 litres of bio fuel per year, personal use without paying tax on it. If you go over you pay tax on all 2500 litres.

Very vague...Bosch make 100s of different pumps; That gossip is likely to be associated with the old non-common rail pumps, and only with a few with the rotary style or the the in-line pumps found on old truck/plant engines.
The Lucas/Delphi CAVs are no good (even on normal diesel

If it was an old shed, and I had a few spare pumps and injectors handy, combined with my skill/ability to swap/fix it should they die I'd try it. But otherwise for someone who can't DIY on cars or has a £2000+ fuel system, I wouldn't reccomend it, unless the car manufacturer says it ok (none that I know of).
