What if ..................
........ say, someone owed a bill .... didn't pay.
That debt was sold on to a debt collection agency - then they send a red, final, bill to you.
At that point the bill is paid.
Does it go down as a bad debt, will it affect that address on the Credit Listings?

Sounds like it's for Gordon Brown, borrowed too much with no way of paying it back, tax payers pick up the bill, mean while Brown does a runner leaving this country blighted.

A debt will become a default on your record long before its past on to collection agents
And it Goes on the individual at the address where they are residing at the time of the debt

The bill wasn't opened as the person wasn't about ..... for 3 weeks.
It was less than £40!
I cannot imagine it would be a major black mark - especially as it was paid as soon as the debtor was made aware of it.

I can't confirm if this is 100% or not but this is what I was told by a mortgage advisor a year or so ago
He said due to bank lending and the current financial climate lenders have become unbelievably strict
He said he had a couple refused a mortgage because of a few late credit card payments
,,, not missed , but late
Now that's what I was told , true or not I don't know

Not true , we moved in together at my address and my finances where immaculate , hers were very poor , we had seperate accounts and had been together for a couple of years and she had been carrying on with her pss poor spending
I went to buy somthing and was declined , I asked why and obviously wouldn't say ( never happened before ) it transpired that she was running debts up at my ( our ) address , so I had to point out it was nothing to do with me and had to distance myself from her
Ive also had the same when I've moved to my current address , and explained I'm not the previous owner
If it doesn't affect an address , how has it affected me twice ?

With the ex situation it was slightly more of a problem because I was actually declined credit
But with the previous owner of my current address it was just brought up and sorted as soon as it was clear I was not the debtor

The best thing to do is watch your credit rating. If it does appear, and you think the reporting was malicious, you can ask for it to be removed. If they won't remove it you have the option to take them to court.
Malicious messing with peoples credit reports is not looked upon too kindly now given how important they are, and there is automatic compensation of £8k for damage to your credit worthiness if the report is incorrect. A small claim (£5K limit) would be the cheaper option and send the message not to mess around. I can't see a judge being happy with a company trashing someones credit rating for an invoice that wasn't paid within 3 weeks from the date it was delivered.

Why are you having a dig at Carl when he's not the one going to bed tonight pretending to be something he's not? You're not rich, you don't even know the meaning of the word. Never have been, never will be. Worrying about some £40 unpaid bill for Christ sake. Low rent if ever i saw it.

Closely followed by that one. You just can't keep self-delusion out of any post can you? There has to be a name for whatever it is you've got. And not just "being a tw@t".
