I think I've done this before, but anyway
I would like to keep up 'training', 2 x 40 minutes on the bike followed by an 20 minute run.. And a couple 3/4 hour swims
A week, through autumn/spring. Won't probably bother with winter ( ill be africa for month of it anyway )
You can spend a sweet fortune on clothing for biking as far as I can see more than the bike
How much do I need to spend

£35 gets you a decent bking top (that you can run in), and if you're not out in winter shorts will be fine. Again, £35 will get you something perfectly useable for what you're doing or budget a bit more if you want baggies.
I'm a big fan of Altura gear
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/altura/cycle/
Jackets usually a bit more expensive but to be honest if I need a second top layer for the cold or the rain I use an old zipped fleece jacket and/or an existing breathable waterproof. Fine for on and off road.
Anything will do on your top half as long as its a snug fit, but flexible. Running tops/jackets will usually be fine on a bike.
Decent gloves are a must - I use fingerless when its not too cold (appx £30) and Sealskinz waterproof gloves for when it is - think they were £36.
You should be able to double up some of the running/cycling gear anyway.

I use sports direct - always have a good selection of discounted sports wear. I focus on my running but use it on the bike too. I have a mountain bike so don't worry about the tena cycling pants

For mountain biking I wear similar to this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sportful-tou...b-shorts-2011/ OK it's lycra and you look a **** but the padding is good, cos it's a bib it doesn't slide down your **** and it also stops unwanted draughts. I also have the same but with full legs for winter. I then have some ordinary baggy shorts that I wear over the top.
I then just wear a breathable top and then an Endura waterproof top... it's not waterproof but it does control the rate at which water comes in!
To be fair, mountain is about getting wet and muddy anyway!
A word of warning about waterproof shoes! Our kid has some and they're waterproof, no doubting that, they fill up!! Sealskin socks are OK, but numb though so I just opt for getting wet.
