How do I find out if someone is dead?
Strange question I know, but I need to find out officially if and when a neighbour has died. I have been told that he was killed in a car crash in India about three years ago but have no proof that this occurred.
He was a leaseholder in the apartments where I live and we need to know the official status before we can deal with some legal matters. Any suggestions how to find out would help. Thanks.

Well leasehold was in his name but if he is deceased then probate was not completed properly as property still in his name at Land Registry.
Suspect his relatives/benefactors may be just continuing to pay mortgage and bills etc. without informing anyone or maybe just lying about his death.

Anyone can access <anyone> elses death certificate. Or at least you can in the UK. Just ring up where the death would have been registered. It'll cost you a few quid, but you can access it.
Failing that, just give them a and if they do nothing, they're dead.

Was told he died in India so probably no death certificate in the UK, can't beleive how difficult it is to find out if someone is actually deceased.
