advice needed
The hinge broke on my laptop, took it to a repairers he fixed he cost £65, when my son used the same night he found it wouldnt turn on. He took it back to the shop the gentleman fixed again by explaining to my son that you have to press the number 2 button as well as the on button to get it to switch on as this can happen when you take laptops apart to repair them. I am back home Friday and I am going to take it back as surely this is Bullsh*t and he cant get away with this can he?

I fix computers for a living, and I have never seen or heard of that one. Computers can be very strange, but I don't understand this one at all.
If I had fixed a machine and it did not turn on, I know I would never thing of pressing the power button and then 2. Its just not a key combo you would come up with. I think we could do with knowing more.
Oh, and £65 is quite a lot just to fix a hinge. I would have thought it would be closer to £40-£50.

I don't know enough to say for sure. I get all sorts of machines in, in all sorts of states. Sometimes there really is nothing that can be done. I've started to take machines apart to find them in all sorts of states after someone else has had a go. So if thats the case, then its not necessarily his fault. You really would not believe what I have had come in.
However, it is possible that he has damaged the machine, hopefully not. Put I don't get why you have to press the number 2 key. Unless its to apply pressure to a loose connection or something. There is something not right that is almost for certain.
