Yeah I have one, 2 receivers is correct, the instruction book did say it was possible to record 2 channels while watching a third, but that's rubbish as It doesn't have 3 receivers.

The one I have is a sharp tu-t2hr32, according to the front panel, not tried any others but this is idiot proof, all the kids can use it, we'll if I'm honest they could use the damn thing before me

One touch record, just select the channel you want to record and press, record.

Pretty damn easy, although it is about 12 months old now so is probably due to go wrong

Two receivers but each receiver takes a whole multiplex (bundle of channels on one carrier). So basically, you can record two and watch a limited selection of the others channels on one or both of the tuned in multiplexes.

That's sort of the way it works with a Humax.

My Tivo box only has 3 receivers so I can record 3 programmes and watch a 4th (but only one I have previously recorded)

I assume the freeview ones work in a similar way

Sort of with you fella as I'm a little bit of a technophobe, but if I record 2 channels when I try to watch a third it stops recording one channel in order for me to watch the third if you can understand that?
Hence why I reckon the instructions are wrong, not yet in the last 12 months have I been able to get it to do what it says it will

I have a Sony from about 5-6 years ago. Sony's prior were awful as their electronics were unreliable, the models after were too as they were just rebranded Samsung, but ours had the Pioneer internals so has been superb. Two tuners, but one analogue and one digital, so the analogue is now defunct. Can record one digi channel whilst watching anything you like on the TV. I have recordings on there from day 1 of getting it, and it's never let me down. Plays and records DVD too, and multi-region. Panasonic ones are supposed to be good too, my Dad and my M-in-law both have one. Many TV's now have a USB port which allows the connection of an external HDD which allows you to record, so often no need for an expensive stand-alone device. Smart TV's with internet connectivity also mean you can view iPlayer, 4OD, ITVPlayer etc, so the need to record is diminishing as content is gradually becoming universally 'on-demand'.

Isn't there a new service providing opportunity to watch something you missed from the whole of the last week

Never bought a recording device, don't think I ever will now!

I have it , but a rubbish internet connection. And Sky Anytime (on the planner) is a waste of space . Its supposed to be stuff that people might miss and Its full of Sky Movies , which are repeated 20 times a month and you have plenty of time to catch again IMO , or its got kids shows that i doubt they "must" see. At the min 50% of it is Box Office movies , which u can see anytime u want anyway !

Anytime is a waste of space for sure, but anytime+ is pretty good.
Plus you now have 'CatchUp TV' too.
