Default freeview and sky on same tv ?

I have Sky going up to the tv in the bedroom using the RF2 output on my decoderin the livingroom. The co-axial goes through an amp in the roofspace then into the "arial in" on the tv. My freeview signal is a bit ropey as technically it isnt getting any input from an arial.

is it possible to get both on a tv ? If so , how do i wire it , and where do i connect into ?

Would you be able to get both if one was through scart?

Its a stand alone tv with built in Freeview wallmounted in bedroom with power and co-ax . I chose to have Sky in the co-ax , but sometimes i would like to use the Freeview but no signal.

You mean the way i have it now , just not through the amp ? It still wont have an AERIAL signal.

if we are correcting eachother , you said "into" twice.

no you run a feed direct from the aerial then the rf2 cable into the amplifier , if your aerial is up to it. if its not a good signal you're pissing in the wind

on your sky box theres 3 coaxial sockets 1 input 1 output (downstairs tv) RF2 to your secondary tv's (playback)

the signal from your aerial goes into the aerial input on the box, the sky box then collates your freeview and sky analogue signal out of RF1 and RF2. This is how it needs to be wired

Thats pretty much the way i have it , so it must just need an aerial upgrade , or adjusted then .

The upstairs tv has freeview built in , so will it pick up enough signal going from the aerial on the roof , down to Sky , back up again ?

I have it set up like this with three Freeview TVs on the RF2 output from the Sky box and they all get a decent signal. I do have a fairly new aerial though, so its probably a strong signal in the first place.

I had a similar set up.

I Used a Y connecter to bring the 2 cables into one which went into the back of the TV

Recently they switched the analogue signal off in my area and changed the modulation of freeview.

This was the same modulation as the sky which caused the picture to be very poor. I had to change the modulation in the sky box settings.

I am using an old chimney mounted aerial that was up when i moved , and it does seem a bit weak , and with it going down then up ant through the main TV it probably struggles.

The Sky box has another coaxial output which you can use to feed your second TV.

You should be able to feed your main tv with a scart and also a coaxial output and also use the second coaxial output from the Sky box for your second tv.

Les

I am already using the 2nd output from the Sky box (rf 2) but it doesnt seem to give me enough signal for me to watch the built in freeview , hence the thread .

If you reckon the existing aerial might just be enough, try a signal booster on it before going tot he expense of changing it.

It goes through an amp in the roofspace before the drop to the tv in the bedroom. I just not sure if it is loosing too much signal by the time it gets to the amp as it goes from the aerial on the roof to downstairs, through Sky , then up to amp , then to bedroom TV.
