Whilst I agree the roads are bad, it's not in New York though. Different state, different city.
I am sure they will re-lay the roads, but if you saw what happened in the Cart race in Detroit this year......

Not a fan of road races - Monaco has to be the most boring race on the calendar. Yeah, it has the glitz and glamor, but the actual racing spectacle is poor at best. Valencia is not far behind if not on par with it, along with Singapore.
It can be done of course, but the roads have to offer the opportunity for real racing and not have the outcome decided by a few boffins number crunching on computers to decide the best time for pit stops. I can’t remember ever reaching for the box of Kleenex after seeing somebody gain a place via a tyre change, but have certainly seem some exciting wheel to wheel stuff on the track.
Then again, I don’t watch them all religiously anymore since the Beeb fiasco.

I have not looked at where in NJ would be, but I am curious about facilities and suchlike. Could it cope with the massive influx of people? Montreal is rather mental when the f1 is in town and the race has been there for some time
It would be interesting to have another venue that is fairly close by
