Default Is a new products warranty transferable?

Let's say you bought something that had just been released but you didn't buy it brand new. Would you expect the 12 month warranty to apply still?

Or, would you be happy to throw it in the bin after 5 months use?

i would expect it to be still under warranty altho they may ask for proof of purchase

imagine buying an xbox off a friend that had brought it new but sold it to you 3 months later then you had the red light of death...........the console should still be under warranty regardless of how and where you brought it (providing its not stolen)

It is interesting. Apple (sorry to mention that), do the warranty thing by the phone serial number and when it was first used.

Otherwise, proof of purchase would be required but should be transferable.

Think it would stand up in court?

It should have a 2 year warranty and has gone **** up after only being on the market for 5 months.

I assumed they would normally need proof of purchase to prove it's within warranty but if it's only been out for such a short time, this wouldn't be necessary.
