Default HELP....... ! I've started liking some classical music

WTF is going on...?

Had a courtesy car a few weeks ago with no CD and the radio was pre-tuned to classic fm and found myself listening for over half an hour before some classical hardcore **** came on and had to turn it off......

I was brought up in a house where Pavarotti, Ella Fitzgerald or Mozart was played 24/7 by my mother.....

Is it downhill from here on in, am I turning into my parents and is there anything I can do to arrest the slide ?

Please help
Confused

Nice post

Now Si you like music so about time you appreciated the joy of classical and there is plenty to choose from

Now you have to be a hard b,astard not to love this sad song. Or try Brahms violin concerto and the sheer melody and beauty will bring a tear to your eye. Or for unmatched power play Vidor's Toccata and Fugue at Volume 11.

Spotify is your friend.

Fantastic music - suits the subject matter perfectly

PS I switch between Classic FM and Kerrang - depending on my mood

Remix it with light drum and bass or add some dubstep tracks to it and you'll probably luv it!

Cue the 50 shades tracks... lol

Iv always liked classical from when i was a kid,

Bach's Toccata and fuge a firm favorite,

Widors Toccata in F is another worthy piece.

I prefer to use grooveshark or last FM if i want to listen , as it offers so much stuff, that i'd probably miss ordinarily

Good god..... I'm prone to the occasional visit to the psychological dark side and I'm sure I'd visit a lot more often if I chose to listen to that too often...

Not for me I'm afraid

Classical music always conveys emotion better than most "popular" music. You just have to let it in. Partly it's an age thing. Having said that, sometimes i'm in the mood, sometimes i'm not. It doesn't come easy to me, but i can be immersed in it when the time's right.

Moonlight always seems to me to be a little misleading; I hear the torment and agony of sorrow.

I find some classical music used in certain movies very good. I guess if I hear a piece I can relate to then I quite like it.
Some lovely music on Hannibal at the outdoor opera set in Florence..

I didn't wish to darken your mood Si. I was just giving that piece as an example of the power of music and, in the example, the voice. But rise above the mood and enjoy it. david

My personal favourite contemporary composition by Trey and Stone in D minor!

Don't worry DL mood is petty stable these days and thanks for posting it up

As has been said, it is very mood dependant (all music) and my taste huuugggeely varies but until recently had always struggled with most classical.

I also thought the Vaccines were particularly poor on Jools on Tuesday, in fact this whole series has been a bit poor so far IMHO so maybe that's what's put me in a funny musical mood recently

Have a listen to "La Mer" by Debussy. As the title suggests it's about the sea and each section describes different aspects of the sea. Difficult to explain but if you listen to it the titles of each section will make sense.

And here's my YouTube choice..
