After spending about an hour looking for a documentary I'd watched a few weeks ago I found it on Youtube and watched it again.
Jet! When Britain Ruled the Sky
This is the second in the series looking at the development of the Airliner, namely British Airliners and of how America was struggling to catch up.
Despite it's tragic safety record, I still think the De Havilland Comet is one of the best looking commercial aircraft ever made.

Its early disastrous accidents were due to a single piece of bad design which was easily put right and the aircraft was then as safe as any other. Just a shame the problems associated with that roof window were not realised in the first place.
I had trips as a passenger in RAF Comets and it was a very comfortable aircraft too.
