I was wondering do small performance hatchback cars make downshift noises like the Lamborghinis and Ferraris do?
I saw VW Lupo pull up the other street when i was walking down and once he pulled up, i heard a loud rev noise then he switched the engine off. So i guess this was a downshift or no?

I'd guess from your description that the driver simply blipped the throttle as he turned the key off. All cars make noises on downshift, it's just a case of how much noise there is and how it reverberates. A highly stressed V8 or huge V12 has lots of gases to evacuate, and through some serious tubing to generate the whining screams or guttural rumbles. A 1.0 VW pushing a half-@r$£d fart through a drinking straw isn't exactly gonna make the girlies drip, even with some back-street drainpipe cobbled underneath.
