Aye. I used to play in the Birmingham based grind/metal band Cerebral Fix who we're signed to roadrunner records then later music for nations. Also played for punk band The Varukers for 15 years then later for a metal band called Helvis.
Great times

Slayer was about as heavy as I listened to but heard others listening to stuff that just sounded like a bunch of rottweilers kicking off, may have been Napalm Death Wasn't for me.
However Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, Anthrax and Pantera were all superb. Anything after the Black album by Metallica just doesn't warrant listening to in my opinion but then nor does anything after the 90's really when it comes to metal.

My girlfriend.... Her music taste compared to mine couldn't be further apart even if we tried. She is into Rammstein, Slipknot, Alter Bridge, Depeshe Mode, Metallica, Skindred, Steel Panther, all that kind of stuff....
I'm more into the chart/pop music like 1Direction and Ne-Yo

My little boy is best friends with their bass players lad.

Lol. Rat singing for Discharge has made them sound like the Varukers doing covers!!!!!!! Cal lost the plot totally around 86. We (Varukers) supported Discharge at the Clubfoot in London in 86 when discharge bought out "Grave new world". They refused to play any old stuff and were bottled off stage.

Christmas on earth festival in Leeds. Remember seeing screaming lord such there. Also went to the metal version some years later.
Still love my punk & metal music much to the annoyance of my wife & daughter lol. My boy loves it though. His favourite band is Motörhead.

The music can be pretty powerful and rhythmically innovative, but the "Cookie Monster" vocals that they all seem to adopt is just a cop-out. Ruins the whole genre for me.
Oh, and I don't like widdly-widdly guitar, either.
