Shaving
Normally just use a beard trimmer to keep a little bit of stubble, at the moment growing a handle bar moustache for Movember. So at the moment shaving every 2/3 days and cutting myself to ****. I'm using a Gillette Mac 3 with their brand off foam. Any recommendations/advice, bleeding to death at the moment????

Probably the rubbish razor. On the very rare occasion I shave (well, my face anyway ) I use a Gillette Fusion Proglide Power with boots own soap and a decent, fairly new brush...... best shave I`ve ever had.

Make sure you wash your face well before hand - it helps remove all the dead skin and this can stop you getting a close shave and also can cause cuts. A good face wash is best.
Then you could also try the 2 pass routine, where you go along the grain with the first pass - then at 45 deg to the grain with the second.
I like to shower after a shave - but some people dont. It depends on your skin type etc etc. The best thing to do is wash your face after with very cold water..
A proper wet shave will take 15 - 20 mins!
I find Mach 3 are ok, but they are only good for 1 shave for me. After that they are too blunt. I might use the same blade again if I am going to shave twice in the space of a couple of days, but anything longer and it wont cut the hairs close enough.

There is a reason for the sss, that's s**t, shower and shave, first is cleaned by the second and the second softens the growth of the beard making it easier to shave off.
I also use a good shaving gel, try a sensitive skin one if it's tugging.

OK, Lock's method for a medium strength stubble.
1) Very quick run over with electric
2) Shower
3) Wash hair in shower and foam face with shampoo
4) Use lightweight throwaway BIC or similar to shave. These cheap shavers are sharp and being lightweight you get a much better feel for your skin surface.
Personally I reckon the big heavyweight multi-blade jobs are an expensive con.

Gillette are a rip off. I swear by Wilkinson Sword Titanium, and way cheaper. Use with the King Of Shaves Gel and after shower or bath (using shampoo on stubble), only ever cut myself when rushing. Thats against the grain too as otherwise doesn't feel like I've shaved.

Against the grain gets a cleaner shave, but also can cause more ingrowing hairs. Doesn't stop me though! Best time of day to shave is apparently 8pm, dunno how they work that out. I use an old school twist top razor, 10 blades for 59p.

I tried Wilkinson Sword once when staying at a hotel as I had forgotten my own razor. Fecking thing cut me to pieces.
Shower deffo helps. If you have time a facetowel with scalding hot water held over your stubble for 30 secs or so.
I personally find I get a closer shave when there is more hair to shave away. Assume more area to grip for a multiblade.
I cant shave against the grain as causes rashes. I have a pretty heavy stubble. So much so that when I went for a proper wet shave trial prior to my wedding day (which is almost all against the grain) the owner told me I was one of only 4-5 people he had ever not been able to do properly. Not an award I wanted tbh Therefore if I am going out of an evening I end up shaving again.

Go traditional
Decent soap (cella, MWF or similar)
Badger / boar / horse / man made brush
Double edge razor (vintage gillette or new merkur - not weishi / parker)
Double edge razor blades
Plenty of practice, time & patience.

I have been using my Gillette Fusion Power Razer for over 4 years, and only change the blades roughly every 2 months as I find they stay sharp enough for me. You can buy a pack of 8 off Amazon for £20, which works out at £2.50 each; I struggle to see how this is a rip off or expensive? I shave once every 2 days and also do downstairs too. I think I've only cut myself literally 2 times in 4 years.
Shower first (very important) and when I scrub my body with a flannel+shower gel, I do my face as well to remove any dead cells.
