Default What's at Millbrook?

Might be going down to Ampthill to look at a car. I noticed Millbrook on Google earth when looking at the route.

What's there? Anything worth a look? Can you go in? Could I drive the Scoob round it?

Its a test facility including test tracks, high speed sleds, engine dynos, emissions etc. Its not open to the public unless your invited in so you cant go in and have a look around.

Its not open to the public. There is a gate house which you wont get past without either an invite or a pass.

Its an industy proving ground. Think Top Gear shaky road Rover and no handbrake Dolomite, hilly road which articulated trucks were driven around and the 'mountain road' where James Bond crashed his Aston in Casino Royale.

You have no chance of getting in, let alone driving around! Really?

Even when you go to a sprint there they are very difficult (no pictures, no moving etc).

I had the pleasure of driving scoobies around Milbrook in 98, offroad, mountain circuit, skid pan and the bowl.

Subaru advertised the day out in all the car mags, so I applied and luckily got a spot on the day out. Drivinng the moutain course was superb with the instructor telling me to keep it in 2nd and 3rd and keep on accelerating "Dont worry it wont fall off the road" better than sex I thought at the time so sold the 325i motorsport convertible the following month before getting my 98 Turbo.

Best decision ever

I'd love another day out at Milbrook

Been there too - the handling circuit if grrreat, all yumps and off cambers...

The bowl is great too - so weird to do 140mph+ and its just sails round - you **** yourself tho when you briefly think 'if a tyre blew now.....!' lol
