Per year? What's the highest mileage you'd entertain?

I'm looking at MAYBE buying a little Cupra Ibiza TDi, but there are some out there with 115,000 miles on the clock.....

i had a little vw bora 130 tdi sport as a cheap run around for a few mths and that had 140k on it when i got it and that ran sweet as a nut. ran it upto 176k and the thing never missed a beat. really could not fault the car or engine was still giveing 55-60 mpg.
very suprised at how well it went aswell when i did sell it i still got very good cash back.

Not a fan of the PD engines. I have an 01 Leon with the 1.9Tdi engine (not PD), best car I have ever owned, it has been well serviced by me, including gearbox oil changes which the dealer doesn't carry out unless specifically requested. Currently has 176K on the clock, uses no oil between services, startes first time every time, and turns in 55mpg no matter how you drive it, which will stretch to lo 60's on long runs or when you take it easy.

Paint finish is hard as stone too which I like.

I am, have had several. The 2 non pd vags I've had (gt tdi 110 and an se 90) I found quite agricultural and gutless.
I average just over 55 mpg in a 2 litre.

1.9 pd deffo the way to go, not the most cultured tdi vs the modern crop but more reliable, economical and pokey enough, I bought a mk4 tdi 130 with 80k on, i have put 20k on it in less than a year, still feels tight, cracking little car, in fact i would go as far to say as the build quality is better than the mk5 gti i had a few years back, mine is serviced every 10k which I do myself for very little cost, although I never skimp on cheap oil, it has cost me very little
