Do you have enough positive proof to be able to make such a statement on a public forum?

Apparently he's quitting because the Vatican wouldn't give him time off to join the fleg protests in Belfast.

I don't think so, I think the guy is just tired and doesn't want the stress any more.
He is 85 isn't he?

God's representative on Earth doesn't report to mere cardinals...so Urban wins. Not sure what he used though - ultra fast Godband link maybe

Thats all very well but it is a pretty nasty insinuation without a shred of evidence.
You won't be surprised when I say I am too but did not find it amusing in any way. There are enough people looking for a chance to hammer anything about religion as it is anyway without any extra help.

I can't see what the problem is. He may be the head of the Catholic church, but he's a just a man like any other.
The church is a business and the CEO wants to step down, so why all the fuss?

it's good to see him working his notice and give the rest of the church time to replace him, maybe if he was just to "leave" God would strike him down with a lightning bolt or something

You know that a lightning bolt did actually strike the Vatican a number of hours after he resigned
Perhaps God missed and will try again
