Metal Thieves

Metal Thieves
Documentary just started on BBC1.
Having just read peoples opinions regarding the 2 who fried themselves in the stolen car, metal theft is one crime that gets my goat. Either because the thieves are so unbelievably stupid, or due to their total disregard for the danger or inconvenience they cause others.
Stealing manhole covers is the one that really beggars belief.
Or instances such as the tools who tried cutting through a live conductor with a hacksaw. When plod arrived the hacksaw was stuck in the cable with an arm attached to it.
No idea yet what's in this program, lots of trains I expect.

Ahh yes, war memorial thiefs even more low than car thiefs due to the lack of respect shown for the dead.
Intresting to know the gang was mostly foreign, the ones interviewed were anyway.

Well you say that, but if you don't have any faith then a church is another place to steal.
I personally think stealing a manhole cover is worse than stealing from a church, the church is rich, the poor ******* that falls down the hole isn't likely to survive .. (hole depending)

There's a kid in Hucknall, who decided to remove the live cables from a sub-station. There was a rather large explosion, but he survived and after hospital treatment, he was back out there doing it again.
All of which, get treated on the NHS, for free. There should be a clause saying that any injuries caused through criminal activity will not be treated on the NHS.
It's not just the nurses who have to patch them up, but the doctors and surgeons who reconstruct the limbs etc and then the hours of rehabilitation they receive with physiotherapists. Plus they occupy beds that the naturally sick need, require feeding, and often require two police officers stood their until they are fit to be released, as you aren't allowed to hand cuff them to the hospital beds. A true waste of money and resources.

That woulden't be a bad idea really, but as most of these 'tards' are jobless fcukwits they woulden't manage to pay for any kind of other treatment.

Yes, just an arm.
If the volts, and then the current, are high enough it's truly shocking what can happen.
Flatbed Transit, Irish driver, full of scrap metal.
If you were the scrap metal dealer what would you think?
I remember one documentary where they filmed scrappies taking complete bus shelters, manhole covers obviously County Council stock, and armoured cable still sealed on rolls.
These scrap metal dealers should get automatic custodial sentences.

At our old work place we had a few idiots who would try and nick metal almost on a nightly basis. I nearly ran over and crushed one of them over one night. As he was sat in his van with his lights off at 3am in the morning.
His excuse for trespassing was he lost his dog.

I thought a law had just been introduced , that if you take any scrap to a dealer, then the money now has to be payed into a bank account so its traceable?
I know you're still going to get the dodgy dealers take no notice of this but should put a few off.
Iam taking a car battery and an old dishwasher to my local scrap dealer later this week, so i'll find out if he still gives cash or not!

Amazing he survived at all really, and he'll probably never truly be right in the head.
