Compared to what some other (overpaid arseholes) sportsmen make, it isn't 'that' much really, dosen't the likes of Ronaldo make about that every week?

What really annoys me is the lack of support the Lawn Tennis Association has for grass roots players & encouraging kids into the sport that are not supported by mummy & daddy.

Prize is not that big for the worlds biggest tennis event but lucky that they still manage to keep the poor people off the courts. If the poor people were allowed to play England might actually find a good player and how dull would that be.

On a personnel level they deserve every penny, every penny
Anyone who wins Wimbledon will have put more effort in than 99.9% of the population, probably from the age of 6 or 7
Hopefully they will recompense their parents, for driving them, every weekend, around the country to various tournaments

It's estimated that it takes talent, appropriate anatomy and around 10,000 hours of practice to become a world class sports player, musician, golfer, etc.
At £1.6M that works out at around £160 per hour for a Wimbledon win. That's about the same as the hourly rate for a well-qualified solicitor, chartered accountant, financial adviser, etc.
And that's for a career term of say 15 years max.
I've never understood complaining that someone earns too much money.
If that's the rate their abilities command then more power to them!
