Although this article is about congestion charge exemption changes, it's the last sentence i'm interested in.
Does this mean they are reviewing the totally unfair VED rates?

I think the realignment is the introduction of charging drivers for cars that are currently either not paying VED or very little, pretty much the same way diesel cars had a distinct advantage in the duty per mile stakes which made them veryatractive to thise that do higher mileage per year then the government hikes up duty etc and screws them over.

I doubt it riiidaa
The way it works now though is very unfair and was all part of Labours ridiculous "war on the motorist"
I do 3k max a year and pay £475 ved. A friend of mine does 4k a month yet pays zero. Grey imports seem to be automaticly be put on a lower rate regardless of g/km . 2 identical cars only registered on different days, one pays half what the other pays. There just seems to be no logic to the current system. It was another Labour stealth tax changing it from "road tax" to "vehicle excise duty", taxing car ownership rather than taxing road use. The Torys did promise they would end the "war on the motorist" if they got into power. The trouble is they can go back on there word as they didn't get into power, a coalition did. Plus i've never known a politician come good on there pledges . The will probably start charging the zero rate cars and put mine up to £1000.
