Cameron's Porn Opt-in

Cameron's **** Opt-in
So what does the clean-cut Scoobynet massive think of this proposal to make ISPs filter out most of the internet?
Regardless of the moralistic argument, I think it's technically impossible to do what he wants, unless you block access to every website bar the BBC News.

It will never happen. Too difficult to implement and even harder to police.
Be exactly like when Virgin Media blocked The Pirate Bay. It has moved address and is now working again. (Not that I would ever carry out any file sharing of course)

A third option should be
'No, it's ill thought out, technically impossible and dangerous to send a message effectively telling parents that with one click the Internet is safe for their kids."
That is before we ask the question what is the real reason he is doing this?
He's a moron!

True. Sadly though, from what I can see, most people seem to be failing as parents.
As you say, you can block access.... So if all parents did this... no more problems.
Its stupid, I blame the parents. They will blame the schools. Who will blame the Government. etc.
People need to take responsibility for their own actions.
EDIT to add - Anyone know where the tick box for opt in is? ;-)

You're right, I wouldn't:

Seems all above board to me. Paranoid parent? You could always set up your internet so it blocks out those things. In fact, Google has a safe search function built in. Maybe try turning this on?

I used to use a vodafone 3G dongle only maybe 3 years ago and by default it blocked anything 'dodgy' even urban dictionary.
I had to transfer 1p with a credit card to prove I was over 18.

Anyway as mentioned it's a ridiculous idea, if you don't want your kids accessing certain stuff on the Internet then don't let them. Plenty of software about that can do this for you.
As for the opt in lark, well that could be tricky.... the missus would expect it to be blocked but as I do like peruse certain sites after she's gone to bed I'd want it unblocked. If it were unblocked then she'd know why Be okay if it's easy enough to block or unblock.

I mean, you could be a responsible parent and stop your child from accessing this horrible internet that you mention (horse **** on your Ipad you said?)... but of course you wont, its not your fault
Slight tangent... How do you know I don't have children?

**** IS easy to access. No one was saying it wasn't. However, YOU, as a PARENT can make it more difficult to access and the internet far safer for your child. I assume you have not done this, which is why such links were displayed. I assume this is why I do NOT see all this **** that you mention, as I have my computer and internet set up accordingly.
We'll ignore all your "Peados on the internet" nonsense.
Stop complaining, and do something about it.
