Puts across most of the points of the debate quite well I think, particularly interesting is the comparison of the US and their workfare program. I can see that happening over here quite easily.

Well the workfare has already been tried over the last year or two if you recall, and a studenty type took it to court calling it slave labour. Other employers got cold feet at the negative publicity and hey presto!

There's no problem with workfare, so long as the legal minimum wage is adhered to.
Thus, an over 21, on jobseeker's would/should be expected to do no more than 7.3 hours per week at present rates.
And that's assuming he's NOT paid for jobseeking, which, under present rules, he is.
TBH, if you are going to enforce legal minimum wage, you cannot then have folk working a 40 hour week for £46, now can you?
