Question 98 RON fuel in Ireland?

Popping over to Ireland soon in the Spec D. Currently use Nitro+ exclusively.

I understand that there are no Shell stations in Ireland. Is there a suitable alternative? Is Tesco super available?

Is high octane bio-ethanol fuel a suitable alternative?

Don't fight please.

I don't believe that the car has been mapped, but I haven't owned it from new. It was Subaru approved used but also came with dyno printouts for 303 bhp / 360 ftlb which is more than standard

I am going to Southern Ireland.

I'll look at the link, ta.

You could alway go and get your car mapped for 95ron before you go. Being a Spec D you can have duel maps with the ecuteck racerom so you could have a 95 map and a 99 map. Other than that i would say stay off boost.

Cheaper to take a gallon of octane booster! Only going for a week so maybe 1000 miles.

But I suppose I'm not allowed to carry that on the ferry

I dont trust that stuff to do what it says on the label, plus it knackers the cat.

You won't get super unleaded in Southern Ireland.
They haven't had SUL for a considerable number of years.

We supply the fuel catalyst that International Motors (Subaru) use in Scoob tanks allowing them to run well and safely on 95 unleaded.

We sold quite a few to Eire for all sorts of performance cars but sales dropped off quite a bit as 97 was introduced a year or so ago.

Not at all. There was criticism from idiots on here who knew nothing about the science, had never used it and couldn't be bothered to investigate.

Those that took it seriously like John Banks and Bob Rawle gave positive feedback.

Here is a fairly recent report on its use. Not proof by any means but a bit of fun riding. 185 mph, a shade too much for me

Why don't Ireland do 98 Ron fuel easily available anyway?

The question has been asked by some here in NI but it really boils down to demand versus additional transport costs I think. Costs more to get fuel here and with the smaller market they dont see it as worth it.

Well, in N.Ireland the best we have is 97ron.
Even that can difficult to get in some parts.
I think the real reason for no 98 is lack of demand.

Ireland (Southern) went through a tree hugger phase many years ago, I think some parts might have it back again now, but I can't be sure.
I don't tend to drive in Southern Ireland that much, and generally fill to the brim if I have to.

A large Sainsburys petrol station here several years ago removed all their SUL pumps and replaced with NUL.

Comments like that from arseholes like you are the reason I hardly mention the concept on SN.

It's a shame as it offers so much.
