Short sharp summer, be honest I feel like turning on the gas
Summer has been great this year, but yes, heating has already been on for a bit in my hut every evening since last two days.
I started to feel not really cold 'cold', but could hear the winter knocking on my door since the middle of August. End of August felt even worse. Not moaning, but I do hate the days going darker and darker earlier now. Anyway, will soon get used to it- like every year.
In fact, due to that feeling of feeling winter so early, I had started to make my Christmas cards in the middle of August. I just had to do it, in order to defend myself against this feeling of that feeling.
I now get it why shops start to sell tinsels etc. from August. It's to prevent winter blues, that is.
Well, I don't buy tinsels every year. Why would you, if you have got good ones, anyway? They don't exactly go stale, or lose their bling, do they? I have had mine for a long time. I stick them back in the attic after Christmas, and take them out to use them again every December. I don't contribute towards shifting shops' tat on annual basis. I'm a green recycler, me.
We better stop before others on Scoobynet start feeling depressed as well upon reading our pre-mature Christmas tat chat. I've had people telling me that it's not the winter but the thought of Christmas that puts a downer on them.
It doesn't seem like five minutes since the last one finished
IFIRC it wasn't up for debate, you either bought them or you were an idiot.

Yep and some people made a t1t of themselves saying they had never had a problem on snow with normal tyres forgetting they had posted that exact same isssue a year or so previously, one of my favourite ever threads on SN
I made a tit of myself
A year or so ago, how about December 2005
You should have known that though as you had so much time to spare in your boring life you had time to do a stalker search on my posts
Just to give you 'I told you so boner' I might consider a set this year as I'm rear wheel now. But maybe I won't......

I've just got in from being out all evening and it was bloody freezing outside. I literally thought that if I didn't know better there could have been frost on the ground it felt that cold. My car temp said it was 9c but felt so much colder with a strong breeze.

We do have electric showers in these modern days, mind. And if he only lives by himself or with his missus on ad hoc basis, a kettle a day can wash his dishes with ease.

His post doesn't say gas or electric for the Water, you just assumed it was a continuation ..

So technically any water heating hasn't happened.
He did say further down the line in his following posts that he heated water in his kettle to wash his dishes. So one can work out that the guy may be using electricity to heat that kettle. Therefore, a possibility of an electric shower in addition cannot be ruled out.
Some may think that he heats his whistling kettle on a coal fire thingy, like he did in Zimbabwe. There is a thought, to be fair.

Yes, I opened the front door to let the fat cat in last night, and the freezing wind hit me hard. Both our cats are actually staying in quite a lot. When cats start to stay in, you know that the winter is scaring them with its ugly face outside.
We had our heating on for 7 hours yesterday.
Goodbye for now, Summer. Catch you next year sometimes.
I'm trying to hold off turning the heating on for as long as possible. Last night I was all wrapped up with my winter socks on and fleecy top, thankfully that did the trick.....just.
