Question Advertising car for sale on eBay?

Has anyone advertised a car for sale on eBay lately?

How does it fair compared to Pistonheads etc?

Depends on price really and there are alot of time wasters on both sites. Bad time of year to sell at the moment. My STI is on there at 10k, had a few good offers but I don't want to make a big loss on the car so its still in my possession

Mines on a classified ad on eBay through a mates car pitch....utter waste of time , all he's getting is stupid messages with crappy px's
Mind you the 'description' he's put is a bit errr ****e.....my 4 year old could of done better , he's not going to try and push it as he's not earning a great deal.

I've normally always done good on pistonheads ...even though you get bombarded by west Yorkshire traders.

I was tempted with pistonheads too but I am in no rush to sell it really. Just Ebay mate at the moment...

Looking for a diesel or a retro classic ie a clean series 2 rs turbo up to 5k in px would make me happy. I have a daughter who lives 300 miles away and its ashame clocking up all the miles and the fuel in the Subaru is

Don't do it
Today's offers I've had are a 2004 f150 , or a 2008 Astra twintop
Anything over 10k is a nightmare to move on

Stick it on ebay, as an auction, then get your mates to bid it up to the minimum you'd take for the car, let the other suckers then bid it higher.

and that's fine, the sellers prerogative -- but buyers are not interested in whether you are going to make a big loss or not

the market decides the price and give or take that is the beauty of Ebay - pretty transparent (apart from w4nkers artificially bidding up the price)

Or cancel at the last second if the price is too low, then re list.

Just sold my old car on there - on a week long auction, start price was the minimum I'd accept for it and so the second a bid landed I was happy...

Guy collected it a few days later and because the description was a totally honest he knew exactly what he was coming to see and it was all done and dusted in 20mins. Perfect.

Surprised no-one commented on Gumtree charging for listing a car for sale now?

They're not getting my money I'm afraid, as I've never been a huge fan of the site and tbh, I figured Gumtree was only useful BECAUSE it was free...

What is the EBay charge on say a £10k car? They take a huge chunk of lesser priced stuff.

Advertised dad's Cooper S on PH; no response. Tried Autotrader; sold in three days.
