OOhhh Billy Boy - what else have you been doing..!!!

Seriously though - why are people waiting for years (and in this case until a trial) before coming forward. You can't help but think they are all jumping on the band wagon.
I see that the police are not even furthering the investigation on these, so something smells a bit fishy with the claims.
It will be interesting to see what comes of the civil case with the original victims.
Did any of Jimmy Saville's victims receive compensation....?

"She says there is evidence the Jury didn't hear."
Something like - I say he did and he says he didn't - 30 odd years ago - but I didn't do anything about it at the time because.......

indeed. They mentioned something about him owning a gold coloured car...? I think that evidence was marked as irrelevant as it goes no where to prove the offence. I may be wrong, but 'clutching at straws' springs to mind.

If I was in the Jury. I ask one question:
"is the evidence provided enough to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he comitted the crimes".
The answer will pretty much always be will be no. Because quite simply there is no evidence bar vague circumstance.
To be frank there should be a review as to why the CPS thought it had enough evidence to pursue this case in court. Unless its intention was to finally draw a line under the accusations, which unfortunately doesn't work in this age of blame claim culture.

The threshold to charge is lower than that to prove guilt. In this case, it sounds like one word against another - but for CPS to say that we don't believe the victim, there has to be credible evidence against her account. She may also have had a witness to verify part of her account - so there may have been enough to pass it through the threshold.
