Default Honda Generator

Just going though some of Dads old stuff in his workshop and came across this.

I have no idea if it work, will have a little play on Wednesday night.

Just wonder what it is worth or if it's of interest to anyone.

If it works probably worth about £150, it looks like a genuine honda and not a Chinese clone.

Good workhorses those GX engines.

Common fault is the fuel tank rusts on the inside and blocks the jet in the carburettor with brown rusty sludge. Usually they'll start on the choke, but then die when its set to normal running.

Simple to fix: One bolt under the float bowl, clean out the crud from inside the bolt, clean out fuel tank, put it all back together, fill with fresh petrol and fire it up.

The fuel tanks aren't sealed so if the petrol has been in there for over six months...drain it. Old fuel will make it a pig to start.

Cheers mate. Just printed off an owners manual and will have a crack at it when I am up there again on Wednesday. I'd say it's been standing for 8 years!

as Ali says good workhorses

the downside is that they can be quite noisy - so anyone wanting it for a PA system might get a newer less noisy one

On regards of value...you can get brand new 2000watt (2500watt peak) chinese clones for a little over £150 on ebay. So obviously its value is impacted by that...old Honda vs new China clone.

Reminds me I have two brand new boxed chinese ones in the shed somewhere (long story ).

It is just deciding what has value and what goes in the skip.

Also found this large reamer set. My boss reckons this is worth quite a bit.
