Default Dremel alternative?

My Dremel 3000 has packed up, after only using it for the third, what a load of rubbish it was, does anybody have any recommendations for an alternative?

I dont know which features to look for or what make, suppose it does need be reasonably priced, and be able to cut through plastic and very thin aluminium.

Maybe serve as a die grinder too

Cheers guys

Proxxon are pretty good.

Or buy cheap and chuck it when it breaks.

What's up with the Dremel? Not just brushes?

Loads of alternatives, Draper etc.

My Draper one was £20 ish from Wilkinsons. B&Q used to do their own brand one.

I would write to Dremel, explaining the situation

In my experience American companies (especially tool manufacturers) have very good customer service

I would not be surprised if they sent you a new one

I have a Black and Decker one. Bought it from B&Q many years ago. Don't know if you can still get them but it has done loads of work!! Only recently has it started to play up.
Cant remember what it cost but it was a fraction of the price of a Dermal

If you write a well crafted cogent letter I doubt they Will require a receipt

What they really really don't want is for you to use a competitors product

I have a Dremel and it has been superb

Do buy the keyless chuck for it, or you will be SOOOOO fed up changing collets to do any drilling.

Plus, the collets are often plastic, and don't grip.

Think you've just been unlucky with the dremel tbh. We've got 2 that have lasted for years.

+1

We use dremels in the workshop and they get some serious abuse from us on a nearly daily basis, we actually had a motor burn out last week for the first time after a good 2 yrs use in a car garage
