Its not a good idea to advertise where you live as someone will know where you will have a subaru before you even buy it, so i strongley suggest you edit it mate asap.

It is not just subaru owners on here im affraid.
Good luck with your task.

Cheers

I have put Chris in touch with original owner via other Cumbrian Scoob members but no response as of yet.

Come on you Manchester Scoobs - can you help out?

Look at it from cold. Increase the revs slowly and watch for piston slap. Late My98's and early my99 suffered from this ... I would be aware . How did it get to NW,Why is it not at Palmers ??
Well said scoobrators ( RB ). Has it a full service history and where was it done? ring who did the service ..

The reason it is down here in Stockport is because the dealer I'm buying it from bought it from a dealer up in cumbria. The previous owner has bought himself an Alfa Romeo gtv, and must have traded this one in to get it.
My request is pretty academic now though as I have already had another go with the wife, and paid a £250 deposit. I will be picking it up on the 17/18th of April, when my funds become available. I will let this thread know when I have it, see you soon,
chris.

He hee, yeah, that is freaky, and a nice drive over the snake and woodhead too. I'll be doing that soon I guess, just to check mine out, so could meet in the middle somewhere maybe next week or the week after. I work earlies for Royal Mail, so anytime after I pick the kids up from school.
Hope to see you soon, the car sounds great by the way, thanks for the links,
chris.

I hope both of you guy have got your name down for the
Northern BIG ONE on the 15th June at Lightwater Valley.
No doubt you will blend in with the other 500 scooby owners that have this grin permanently on their faces.
Hope you both enjoy your cars.

That car is a cracker and put up a good performance at cumbrian scoobs RAID ACROSS THE BORDER

Check out the pictures on the thread and some from the gallery !!

it will be nice to see it again at the NBO

Have you registered yet as it seems a shame if someone has to park on top of the rear spoiler

although we could fit another scooby in the bonnet scoop !!

Chris. I was speaking to Dave today and he's going to give me a box of goodies (oils, brake fluid etc)for you. We can either arrange to before hand or i'll give you the stuff at the NBO.
Good choice of car mate, you'll not get a better condition second hand car.

ok, got it on thursday, but no insurance docs so no car tax, so no drives out, damn damn damn! waiting for the postie now to rip it from his hands and scream down to the postoffice to get my tax.
spent all day yesterday polishing and fettling! gleaming like a new pin she is.
I had a chat to the previous owner yesterday as well, got his phone number off the web, very helpful and informative, and he also mentioned the box of bits he has, so thanks for that.
if that post doesn't come today, I will be gutted, heres praying, see you all at the big one.

Thanks for that Dave, that is a bit more comprehensive than I managed to get down during our phone converstation the other day. I will copy that and keep in a safe place.
I am in negotiations at the mo' with Mark to try and meet up somewhere, but it looks like I may have to hangon till the BIG ONE, and meet up there,
thanks again for all your help, and rest assured I am looking after her.
I've been out for the last 3 nights now, getting used to the handling, speed, and general way of the beast.
Still coming back with a great big grin on my face everytime.
see you soon,
hope you are enjoying your alfa as much as I am the scooby,
chris.

It's a bit far too travel up to cumbria for me at the moment, especially for one nights meet, maybe when am on my holidays, and I could stay over somewhere for a night or two.
As for the exhaust, I haven't tried it without the bung yet, I think the neighbours need time to get used to the way it sounds now, without shocking them with the bung off!
Back to work tonight for me, so night rides are off for a while.
BTW Dave, you say in your add that you had only run optimax/super unleaded, but I'm sure you told me you just used standard unleaded, which is it? I have been using standard so far, but can start using optimax again, no problem, does it make that much difference to the performance/engine wear. I know EVO did a big feature on optimax a while ago, and came up with the conclusion that is was better for your engine, but it is quite a bit more expensive than normal fuel. What do you think?

Chris, as far as I know Dave always used super or optimax. You can run it on normal unleaded but after all the engine problems there have been over the years with other cars, why risk it? I always use Optimax (Jap import model) but some people prefer super unleaded. At the end of the day its personal choice.

Chris,

Its a UK car so you can get away with normal unleaded, it just means the engine runs hotter with the lower octane fuel. I just always used optimax/super coz my car got the best. But its yours now so you choose ;-)

cheers for the advice guys, what to do, what to do?
I was running optimax on my bravo hgt before, but would fill up with normal every now and then.
The problem is the shell garage is out of the way from where I live, so I have to make an effort to go there, but I do have an incentive to pose a little more now I suppose, hehe.
I will try it on optimax for a while, see how I get on,
chris.
