thanks to all who attended, over 60 cars signed on this time.
weather was good/bad during the day, but runs continued throughout and some seriously quick cars took part.
i've included a short report here for our own 200+ members, with times. anyone else who took part please add your results?
next one is 13th july, which is a practise day for totb2.
this will have a timed handling cct.
i will post details of any other events there between now and then
cheers to all for a top day

Elvington RWYB 27/04/03 report/results.
Another brilliant meeting, lots of very quick cars (over 60 signed on to run during the day). The odd heavy downpour didn’t halt proceedings, and the surface soon dried as always. Timing displays were in use today to show all runs, including 60ft times.
Quickest 200+ club cars were as follows:
”Mad Barry” Kotia GTI-R 12.29s 111mph. (3rd overall on day) also had 160mph top speed.
Andy Nicholls MG Maestro 12.6s 122mph. 4th overall on day, Also won fastest terminal speed of the day for all classes with a 12.7s 124mph run!!!
Shahid MR2 Turbo 12.9s 107mph 1.9s 60ft
John Bates GTI-R 13.2s 103mph 1.9s 60ft
Chrs M Celica GT4 13.4s 99mph 1.87s 60 ft
“Panda” Honda NSX 13.53s 103mph
Gary Moore MR2 Turbo 13.85s 98mph 1.95s 60 ft 142mph top.
John Newcombe MR2 Turbo 14.12s 97mph and 141.7mph top
Mark Lomax WRX wagon 14.27s 95mph
Brian Harvey Sierra 4x4 TT 14.28s 103mph
The two quickest cars on the day were a 600+bhp Skyline which did 11.4s 120mph 1/4m, and fastest top speed was set by Tim W with his 550bhp R34 V spec at 169mph in 1.25miles. he also did a 12.13s 118mph 1/4mile. (2nd quickest run of the day)
A strong headwind was encountered all day which may have knocked the times down by the odd tenth etc.
Apologies for any times I missed, email me any if so.
Thanks to all members who attended, hope to see even more of you at Elvington on 13th July.

When i left, i was 6th quickest of the day with 12.8 and 107mph. 0-60ft time of 1.95. That was my last run of the day, in the pouring rain

I was in the red impreza wagon, incase you did not know

Good day today IMO, i have now figured out my best launch technique, and all i have to do now is fit my new clutch, as it was slipping quite badly in 3rd and 4th.
Going against the meastro was fun, i had a crap start and fluffed a gear change, at 300 mtres, i was 2 cars in front and thought i had him

Great day

My 22B was surprisingly pedestrian in comparison to other scoobies there - some very quick and nice cars
My best time was
60 ft 1.801
Time 13.25
Exit 104 mph
Standard 22B type Uk and the very first time - did 4 runs and cooked the clutch. good day and proves the point that 22B's are "pretty" cars. Think with a few mods and some practise could get it down into the 12's

You mean the FTo and the Skyline gts, very funny, especially the dolly birds![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
22B was nice, although you did leave in a hurry
.
I found my best times were to dial in 5500 to 6000rpm with the clucth fully in, and then just dump the clutch. With the last elvington and yesterday, i have only done 23 runs on the track so, not too bad.
Some clutches were smelling a bit though.

out of intrest
when was everybody changing up to the next gear?
i stuck to 6 k for most of the runs
i had problems with the car reving out near the end in 4th gear and going past 6k

I was changing at 7, although boost drops off on mine at 6, so should maybe change earlier. Through the 1/4 line i was at about 6000rpm, just, in 4th. Indicated 110, trap 106/107.
You have another 1000rpm left after 6 you know![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
On a uk car 6krpm works out at about 112 mph, what were your terminal speeds through the 1/4??

Standard turbo does drop off after 6k, but also has less lag.
Still cant believe how quickly that bloody meastro passed me, just before the line, made me look like i was standing still. Mind you the turbo on it was huge, and i heard that he had 2bar of boost by 2500rpm

had a few good duels
(4 in a row with Mal, lost 3 - 1
)
think i raced most scoobys on the day, and good to meet a few of ya too, my fastest was 13.4 @ 99mph, did 32 (thirty two) runs on the day, my best being my 31st!
also did a few flyers at a poor 140ish then ran out of track, did it 3 times just so could take that huge hairpin at the end at about 80![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

just for info the maestro ran 12.2s 122mph last week at york. with its new (T78) turbo and external wastegate he is making maybe 450-500bhp on 1.7bar. has to launch at 1.2bar tho and can wheelspin to 1/8th mile. his worst run so far has been 13.2s 116mph on this new setup.
you will generally find he lets you go off the start anyway if you race him, as he is more concerned with getting a good launch for himself. yesterdays were all 2.3s to 2.6s 60ft tho. once it does hook up it is very impressive, ie 124mph terminal was the fastest of all the cars there.
he raced the green v spec R34 and beat him by 6mph on terminal, although just losing on time. tim who owns the v spec was off in 1.79s to andys 2.6! saw him catching up quickly after the start!
(vspec ran 12.3 to andys 12.7s.)
there might be another open rwyb date before our big 13th july date at elvington. if so i will post it.
we do need to get more cars down there for these events to make them succesful and therefore continue, so please spread the word
etc. there is no probs with clubs having their own shootouts /trophies etc if they wish at these meets.
cheers to all for making it a top day.

200plus, i reckon a Scoobynet 1/4mile shoot-out
would be popular, what everyone else think? how many cars would we need to make it possible and how would it work?

Peccy, good idea, how about you organising one in conjunction with Chris from 200plus club before 13th July?
Chris, i know what you mean about the meastro, thats why i was just focusing on me when i ran aginst him. I had to get a really good launch to beat him. He only just pipped me tbh, and i suspect thats when he got the 13.2, as my time was 13.5 i think. Given that i ran under 13 7 out 12 attempts, shame i did not against the meastro.
Impressive car though.

Had a great time yesterday, once I found 3rd gear ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
went from 2nd to 5th once![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Best run was 14.27 @ 91mph with a 60ft of 1.601. Average time was about 15.1
Happy with those times from a UK my97 with blitz centre and back box and an induction kit.

the 29th june date isnt confirmed as yet, only the 13th july, which is the practise day for totb2, also open entry for anyone who wants to see how they compare. that event will have the timing gear on the handling course also. i'll get back to you on the 29th june one.
what i will say is i already looked at booking 3 dates for either this season or next, specifically for an inter club shootout (drag and top speed) for our cars (no bikes etc). we used to help run the inter club series at york dragway, but that faded away as the venue wasnt so good, and the queues were quite big as other events on at the same time.
it could be a bit cheaper also if we get at least 70+ cars, and only run a timed drag and top speed event. (when you add in the cost of a handling course and timing also it bumps up the cost overall). i dont think £30 for virtually unlimited runs without queuing was bad tho.
i have proposed to the owners of elvington that we run 3 dates and invite along clubs similar to TOTB, but without restricting the numbers, to keep the cost per car down.
if we have support from scoobynet regulars, and someone off here will be the point of contact/liason (peccy?) , then we couldeither keep it 200+ and scoobs, or open it up to say evos, skylines , and similar? we would have to guarantee over 50 cars per event, or they would have no choice but to open it up as a free for all and bikes as well.
i'm sure i can rustle up some trophies/sponsorship for a 3 date series also for fun.
i'll get bakc to you all shortly.
cheers
